There’s not a lot of good news lately, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make good things happen. A group of restaurant workers in Seattle decided to take recent events as a point of inspiration and created an event called Eat Your Heart Out. It’s a benefit for Direct Relief, an aid organization with a mission to “improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty and emergencies.” Working with Direct Relief, the organizers of Eat Your Heart Out can address the needs of areas around the world that are affected by natural disasters and the damage they leave behind.
Eat Your Heart Out is a collaboration of some of the best of Seattle’s Food & Drink Industry, featuring both a sit down formal dinner for a $300 donation, and a Karaoke Party for $30. “We wanted to create an event that is accessible to both our diners and our industry friends,” said organizer Anais Custer of Mbar. “We knew we could utilize our community to assist other communities in need – it’s part of our obligation as hospitality workers.”
