Know your Worth: Best Tip Tracking Apps

Knowing how much you make is the first step toward financial responsibility. Get started by using one of these tip tracking apps!

When I started as a server, most of my income came from cash tips. I never kept track of how money was coming in or going out — it was a financial nightmare. There’s just something about having cash and getting paid daily that makes it very easy to spend without thinking. Eventually, as happens with age, I got tired of being broke. I knew I made enough not to deal with that stress, so I started keeping track of my tips in a journal. After months of logging, I’d take the average amount to get a general idea of how much I made monthly and yearly. This was a pain in the ass, and I don’t suggest it. Especially since there are tip tracking apps that not only help you record your daily tips but offer tools and insights to give you a clear idea of how much you’re making month after month so that you can budget better.

If you’re ready to take charge of your finances and start living within a budget — here’s a round-up of some tip tracking apps that can help get you there.

ServerLife
ServerLife is an old favorite and is available for both iOS and Android. You can keep track of your hourly and tipped wages across multiple jobs and shifts for better financial tracking and insights. The best part of ServerLife is that you can easily compare income across jobs and shifts to make more informed decisions on which jobs and days you can earn the most.

ServerLife comes with helpful features like daily reminders to enter your hours and tips, the ability to differentiate between cash and credit card tips, and subtract work-related expenses from your income to get a clearer picture of what you’re really making.

Tip Mule
Available for iOS, Tip Mule is an excellent app for any type of worker looking to record their income. Whether you have a single job, two jobs, or pick up shifts, you can register your tipped and hourly earnings across multiple employers to get a bird’ eye view of what’s coming in.

Tip Mule offers insights and graphs to help you analyze your income across single and multiple jobs. Their easy-to-read insights are a great way to make more educated decisions about taking days off or which employer you will be able to earn the most with.

TipWise
We decided to checkout TipWise after someone (who I’m pretty sure is the app developer) commented on our 2018 Tip Tracking article that they preferred TipWise, after also saying our list seemed outdated. No hard feelings, Conor. TipWise does seem like a no-fuss tip tracking app, available for Android.

TipWise is a simple app to record your tips and hours across multiple jobs and shifts. You can set weekly, monthly, and yearly earnings goals and pull reports to visualize your progress. This is an excellent option for someone who’s just looking for a quick and easy way to track their tips and overall earnings.

Tip Tracker
Tip Tracker has by far the most reviews on Google Playstore and the Apple Store and is worth checking out if you’re looking for a popular tip tracker. Like the others, Tip Tracker allows you to track your hourly and tipped income across multiple jobs, visualize your income with graphs and insights — and take a look at when you’re making the most money.

Unlike the others, Tip Tracker is not cloud-based, and so all your data is stored on your device, but they claim this increases privacy. If you don’t care about quickly accessing your information across multiple devices, then Tip Tracker is an excellent option chosen by many within the industry.

Take charge of your finances and start keeping track of your wages. Whether you’re working shifts through Poached Shifts, or just started a new permanent job —  knowing how much money you make is the first step toward living a financially responsible lifestyle. Once you know how much is coming in, you can make necessary adjustments to ease some of the stress of paying bills and other expenses.
