Poachedjobs: Our Latest Tech Updates

6 years ago, we started Poachedjobs with a simple idea: hiring and getting hired doesn’t need to be a soul sucking proposition. With a focus on the needs of the hospitality industry, and pulling from our own experiences working in restaurants, we know the best way to help is to connect job seekers and employers without adding to their already busy days.

I’m very happy to say our work is paying off. As the top national jobs site for the hospitality industry, we receive over 2.7 million pageviews per month. We’re not going to coast on those numbers though, so we’re constantly looking for ways to improve our site and services.

Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to:

Improved site performance
From listening to users, we learned that load times, especially for job posters with a lot of candidates, were simply too long. No one wants to wait as a site loads, so we made some under-the-covers upgrades that load pages faster than ever. Now, if you have 20, 30 or even 100 candidates to view, pages load at the blink of an eye.

Faster resumes
After working to improve the efficiency of uploading and viewing resumes, we’re very happy to report that resumes are now viewable only seconds after they’re added to our system. For both job seekers and job posters, this means no more waiting for resumes to render.

A better job posting experience
After nearly 4 months of testing and iterating, we’ve recently released the new job posting flow to all our job posters. The result is less time spent posting, and more time evaluating candidates. We’re not done yet, however. We’ve heard a lot of great ideas from users on how to improve posting jobs, so we’ll continue to focus on this part of the site.

A faster, more secure checkout
To ensure the highest level of security, we redesigned our checkout flow and moved our payment method processor to Stripe, which is fully PCI-compliant. Our new checkout flow also allows users to securely store cards, making checkout as simple as clicking a single button.

Track your own invoices
Many users expressed the need for better tracking of purchases – especially if the person posting the job isn’t the person doing the accounting. Simply log into Poached and go to your Billing tab. There you’ll find all your transactions, downloadable invoices for each purchase, and a downloadable CSV you can use for tracking and reporting. No more hunting through your email or having to request copies of receipts.

In the coming months keep an eye out for more site improvements. Our goal is to make hiring or getting hired on Poached easier and faster than any other site. As part of this process, we’d love to hear from you on how we can improve – feel free to reach out to us at hello@poachedjobs.com and let us know how we’re doing.

Finally, thanks for supporting Poached!
